A Poem for the Stars

Diamond twinkles in the night

Starry paths, oh what delight!

The shapes you make up in the sky

wink to me a lullaby

Standing on the frosty ground,

what’s once forgot,

 again is found

No doubt have I

here on this night

Why at the very first

your light

shone on my ancestors,

old as time,

And sung to them

an older rhyme

And they, now dust and memory

Saw it clear,

How precious it be—

Says light in dark

“remember me”
